Box Truck, Semi-Tractor Trailer Collide On SR 13 South of Sidney
SIDNEY — A box truck collided with a tractor-trailer on SR 13 near CR 1250S, south of Sidney, Thursday morning, Dec. 26.
Shortly before 10 a.m., a southbound 2015 Hino box truck, driven by Luiz Gomez, 59, of Fort Wayne, struck a forklift mounted on the back of a flatbed semi-trailer, which was being pulled by a 2018 Kenworth semi-tractor.
The tractor-trailer was parked along SR 13 for delivery, and about one-third of the vehicle was on the roadway at the time of the accident, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
The initial point of impact was on the passenger side of the Hino and the rear driver’s side area of the trailer. The Hino received significant damage.
The driver of the semi-tractor, Steven Sanders, 40, of Fort Wayne, was inside the cab when the accident happened.
Sanders refused medical treatment at the scene and Gomez was taken to Parkview Hospital in Warsaw for the treatment of minor injuries.
SR 13 was closed for a short period while crews removed the fluids and debris from the road, said the news release.
