Fleeing Motorist Arrested After Hitting Car In Police Pursuit
WARSAW – A police chase Sunday afternoon that left a trail of damage in Leesburg and Milford resulted in one man’s arrest.
The motorist faces multiple charges after being apprehended at his residence in Warsaw.
Joseph Trump, 27, of Warsaw, was preliminarily charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, two counts of resisting law enforcement (felony and misdemeanor) and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
He’s being held on $5,250 bond.
The chase began shortly after 1 p.m. on Old Road 15 near CR 900N when a deputy with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office saw Trump traveling at a high rate of speed and headed north in a 2010 red Dodge Ram.
The officer attempted to pull him over, but Trump headed south and down several county roads, damaging property in the Leesburg and Milford areas, a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office said.
At one point, Trump was attempting to execute a right-hand turn onto Levi Lee Road from CR 100E and struck a vehicle that was stopped along Levi Lee Road, the news release said.
The suspect vehicle continued west on Levi Lee and eventually entered Whispering Pines Trailer Park near Warsaw. Trump got out of his pickup and fled to his mobile home. He was apprehended as he attempted to unlock a door to his residence.
There were no injuries sustained in the collision.
