Harold Leroy Brumm, 89, Syracuse, passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at his home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1929, in Portland to Fred and Lena (Roser) Brumm.
He graduated from Portland High School and Indiana University in Bloomington and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was married on June 10, 1955, in Portland, to Mona Lou Huey who survives. He retired as a loan officer from Citizens Federal Savings & Loan in Hammond & Munster after several years. He grew up in Portland, lived in Munster, and moved to Syracuse in 1992 where he had a cottage since 1977.
He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse, Wawasee Kiwanis Club in Syracuse, and former member of the Kiwanis Club in Hammond & Munster.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Karen (John Settle) Leewood, Indianapolis; son, Steven (Mary Ann) Brumm, Cornelius, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons; sister, Wanda Butcher, Angola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Laurie Duke, grandson, Elliott Brumm, sister, Martha Rockwell and brother, Earl Brumm.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the church with Pastor David Henry officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse is in charge of arrangements. Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date.
