LEAD CAMPUS SAFETY OFFICER
Scope of Responsibilities:
Provide for the safety and well-being of Grace students, faculty, staff and visitors through enforcement of college policies and procedures. Supervise student officers to maintain a safe campus community through patrol, respond to calls (including emergency and crisis situations), and provide other safety-related services in a gracious and conscientious manner.
General Responsibilities:
1. Investigate or case the investigation of all unlawful acts, complaints and incidents occurring on the campus that come to the attention of the campus safety department.
2. Cooperate with local, county, state, and federal agencies.
3. Work with all departments and sections of the college to insure a proper interface of campus safety and safety related activities.
4. Complete all work assignments in order to maintain operational efficiency.
5. Apply all college regulations and policies with fairness and impartiality.
6. Maintain correspondence, records, and reports necessary to provide an efficient and effective organization.
7. Maintain vehicles, uniforms, and equipment.
8. Provide on the job training as the F.T.O. (Field Training Officer).
9. Assist in supervision and scheduling of student workers – including applied learning supervision.
10. Available to work primarily 2nd shift, as well as other shifts as needed.
11. Provide coverage for on-call hours as scheduled.
12. Be available to work weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
13. Engage customers in a friendly and professional manner.
14. Assist with planning and completing strategic goals for the department.
Other responsibilities:
1. Perform all duties of a Grace College Safety Officer as required.
2. Assist in emergency care of injured or ill students or employees.
3. Ensure the optimum use and safety of parking facilities, the enforcement of traffic and parking regulations, and the efficiency and accuracy of ticketing, collection, and processing procedures.
4. Respond to fire alarms and assume responsibilities designated for campus fire procedures.
5. Perform monthly fire check log for Grace College facilities.
6. Make security checks and complete security assignments established by office procedures, directives and special orders.
7. Review all college campus safety reports and records.
8. Attend departmental and institutional meetings as required.
9. Assist in traffic control and crowd control at concerts, sports events, and other special events on the Grace College Campus.
10. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of knowledge.
11. Assist in other duties as directed by the Director of Campus Safety.
12. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum:
1. At least 2 years college experience in a related field or 2 years of experience in Safety and Security or related customer service profession.
2. CPR/AED certification
3. Good verbal & written communication, well-spoken and approachable.
4. Strong Christian faith, commitment and volunteer service experience.
Preferred:
1. B.A. or B.S. in a related field
2. 4 years experience in Safety or Security or related customer service profession.
3. Current certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, or First Responder.
Status: Full Time; Non-Exempt
