Patricia Ruth Horn — UPDATED
Patricia Ruth Horn, 85, formerly of Akron, died at 4:51 p.m. Nov. 26, 2019, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where she was a resident.
She was born on May 31, 1934, in Alexandria, to Charles M. and Martha E. (Baker) Malicoat. She married Jack E. Horn on June 10, 1951, in Alexandria.
She lived in the Akron area for 33 years before moving to Peabody Retirement Community one and a half years ago with her husband. She worked approximately 12 years at Johns Manville, Alexandria, as a factory worker. She then worked at Heckman Bindery for 13 years and retired from there.
She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and reading books. She crocheted many gifts for her family, friends and for special occasions such as weddings and baby showers. All who received the gifts treasured them very much. She enjoyed having visitors and seeing all of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Jimmy Swaggart Media Church.
Survivors include three children: Timothy A. (Debbie) Horn, Alexandria; Daniel E. (Melody) Horn, Tipton; Julie R. (Mike) Smith, Claypool; eight grandchildren: Lindsay (Jason) Smith, Brandon (Lisa) Dotson, Nick (Erin) Smith, Jordan Smith, Madira (Eric) Markley, Miriah (Brian) Burnell, Jason Horn and Crisi Young; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband: Jack E. Horn, who passed away Nov. 10, 2019; and her brother: Samuel A. Malicoat.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, Indiana 46910.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Frank Whitaker. Burial will be in the Akron IOOF Cemetery, Akron.
