William ‘Bill’ Lloyd Wood
William “Bill” Lloyd Wood, 70, Warsaw, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, after a courageous fight against cancer.
He was born on July 2, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, and was adopted by Kathleen Metz Wood and Donald Hughes Wood. On Aug. 7, 1971, he was married to Priscilla Jane (Petersen) Wood, who survives.
Bill graduated from Eastmoor High School, where he was an all-Ohio football player. He went on to play football and graduate from Indiana University, he later earned a Master’s degree from Indiana State University. He worked for 30 years at Fairmont Homes in Nappanee, and served as Pastor at Packerton United Methodist Church for ten years. He was very active in his community, serving the Warsaw Tiger Booster Club, Greater Warsaw Cooperative Preschool, First United Methodist Church of Warsaw and Washington Elementary PTO.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Priscilla Jane Wood, Warsaw; daughter: Lynnly (Jeremy) McLaughlin, Columbus, Ohio; son: Alexander “Alex” (Anne) Wood, Fishers; six grandchildren, and half siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Bill’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service that will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Packerton United Methodist Church, 7976 S. Packerton Road, Claypool and officiated by Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer, Reverend Brian Smith and Pastor Carolyn Kern. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
