Jack Marvin Carr
Jack Marvin Carr passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday Nov. 24, 2019, with family by his side.
Jack was born to Orval and Catherine (Hay) Carr on Oct. 9, 1926. Jack was a lifetime resident of Syracuse and retired from Dana Corporation in 1991.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ellabelle (Doll) Carr, a daughter Caron Carr Pilgrim, sister, Rosemary Carr and brother Stanley Carr.
He is survived by three daughters, Christie Schanlaub (Dennis) of Syracuse; Connie Yadon (John) of Montpelier; and Carol Carr of Warsaw. Three grandchildren Christopher Mays (Frances), Neil Pilgrim (Lorena) and Emily Pilgrim (Devin). Three great grandchildren Izabella Mays, Reed Mays and Noel Harvey.
Jack’s favorite passions in life were fishing and golfing. In 2001 he shot his age of 74 at Maxwelton golf course. Regarding fishing, he had stated that “God does not deduct from the allotted time of man, those hours spent fishing”. He was also an avid bowler and excelled in basketball in his younger days.
He was a dedicated fan to the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church.
Jack and Ellie were united in marriage June 28, 1952, and spent the next 64 years of their lives together.
A graveside service to reunite Jack and Ellie will be held at the Syracuse Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., Saturday Dec. 7, with Pastor David Henry officiating.
