Warsaw Library Board Of Trustees Approves Internet Acceptable Use Policy
WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved the library’s annual Internet acceptable use policy during its meeting on Monday, Nov. 18.
The board held a public hearing regarding the policy before its regular session. During the hearing, Board Vice-President Jill Beehler asked those present about the library’s Internet hotspots that are available for patrons to check out and use.
“When we first got our hotspots, we had some people who just didn’t want to return them,” said Assistant Library Director Joni Brookins. “Even though they would basically be turned off and were no longer usable when they did that. A charge was then put on their records. Since we’ve done that, now people can’t borrow them if they haven’t paid the charge for the hotspot yet. I’ve been told that people are getting a lot better about bringing them back on time.”
The board also approved the library’s 2020 paid leave policy for employees. In 2020, the library will be closed on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans’ Day. The library will also be closed on July 3; Nov. 26 and 27; and Dec. 24 and 25, in observance of Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The library will also be closed next year to the public on March 19, July 4, Sept. 17, Nov. 28, and Dec. 26. Early closings will happen on Nov. 26, Dec. 3, and Dec. 31.
The board’s next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the library.
