Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following accidents:
5:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, West CR 525S near South CR 450W, Claypool. Driver: Taylor M. Myers, 22, East Springfield Drive, Warsaw. Myers was driving her vehicle when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $5,000.
3:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, North SR 19 near West SR 10, Etna Green. Drivers: Brandon A. Whitton, 32, Old Colony Road, Warsaw; James A.Scarberry, 65, 10th B road, Bourbon; and Kenneth G. Cooke, 51, EMS T5 Lane, Leesburg. Cooke was dropping off a student from a school bus on SR 19. He just pulled in the stop arm after dropping off the student. Scarberry was stopped at the bus’ stop arm and began to move north as the arm pulled back. Whitton said he didn’t see the two previous vehicles stopping until the last minute. He said he had a bottle under his brake pedal and was unable to stop. He drove between the two vehicles, striking both. Damages up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to the following accidents:
11:41 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, US 30 near Silveus Crossing, Warsaw. Driver: James D. Rancine, 54, Post Road, Fort Wayne. Rancine was driving his vehicle when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $10,000.
9:39 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, West Lake Street near Meadow Lark Blvd., Warsaw. Driver: Stephen C. Qualley, 41, Indian Trail, Warsaw. Qualley was driving west on Lake Street when a black colored dog entered the road and entered his lane of travel. He said he did not see the dog until it was directly in front of him. The front left bumper of his vehicle hit the dog. Qualley stopped to check on the dog’s condition. The dog matched a one that was filed in missing animal report earlier Thursday. The dog suffered injuries to the hind leg area, causing it to be unable to walk. Damages up to $2,500.
5:39 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, US 30E near East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Betty S. Moyer, 54, East College Avenue, North Manchester; and Maung Maung, 31, Reed Street, Fort Wayne. Maung was sitting in his vehicle at the intersection of US 30 and East Old Road 30 facing west when his vehicle was rear-ended by Moyer’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
4:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, East Center Street near North Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mariah R. Lee, 24, Cambridge Drive, Libertyville, Ill.; and Jacob A. Wagner, 18, South CR 450W, Warsaw. Lee was preparing to proceed into the intersection, had her vision blocked by a construction vehicle and collided with Wagner’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
8:22 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, East Center Street near Robmar Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Isaiah Bankole, 34, Concord, Leeds, UK LS27Q; and Mark G. Messmann, 33, North SR 15, Larwill. Bankole said he was driving out of the parking lot of the Wyndham Hotel when he checked the wrong direction to see if traffic was clear. He proceeded to turn left on to Center Street and collided with the rear passenger side Messmann’s westbound vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
