Dixon Holds First Fundraiser In Bid For State Representative Seat
Bill Dixon, candidate for state representative, hopes the public will turn out for his fundraising dinner on Thursday, Nov.21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Maria’s Restaurant in North Webster.
While many people know Dixon from his time at Wawasee 103 radio and as an elected member of the Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board, fewer know he is running for state representative.
“The first stage of any campaign is just getting people to know you are running,” said Dixon. “That takes two things: time and money. I am out knocking on doors now, introducing myself one-on-one to those who don’t know me and talking about the issues that affect this district. To date, I’ve financed the campaign along with a few friends. I need the broader help of my many friends in Syracuse and North Webster to win this race. I cannot do it alone and it is too important to fail.”
Dixon decided to run for the office when he learned how poorly his opponent behaved during the sessions of the General Assembly. It is Dixon’s position that, if the district does not reject the incumbent, then the office will be given to Indianapolis voters during the 2022 redistricting, with the bulk of it combined with David Wolkins district.
“This election is not just about today, or the next two years,” said Dixon. “Once a seat is taken away, it is nearly impossible to get it back. This election is about our representation for the rest of our lifetimes.”
Tickets for the fundraiser are $40 each. The menu includes walleye and fried chicken.
