Five Towns Choose Clerk-Treasurers, Council Members
Towns with races:
Claypool
Libertarian Patricia Warner captured two-thirds of the vote (66.6 to 33.3) and defeated Democrat Charlotte Lindley in the race for clerk-treasurer.
Republican Benny Stage, Jr. defeated Democrat Niki Miller, 65.1 to 34.8, for the north district seat.
Other candidates on the ballot included Democrat Elizabeth Heiman and Republican Eugene Warner. They were unopposed and will represent the center and southern districts, respectively.
Etna Green
Republican Patricia Cook defeated Democrat Mandy Ewing, 65.0 to 35.0, for clerk-treasurer.
Republicans Keith Claassen, Jason Hanes and Susan Klinefelter were unopposed in their bids for town council.
Leesburg
Incumbent Democrat Michael Searfoss retained his seat by defeating Republican Greg Anderson, 73.8 to 25.1.
Incumbent Republicans Christina Archer, Doug Jones and Tom Moore were unopposed.
Pierceton
Republican Myra Mast narrowly defeated Libertarian Brian Harman, 51.0 to 48.9, (76-73) for clerk-treasurer.
Incumbent Republicans Tom Barker and Matt Brubaker and Democrat Mandy Espinoza were unopposed.
Syracuse — Incumbent Republican Paula Kehr-Wicker defeated Democrat Tim Yeager, 76.2 to 23.7, for clerk-treasuer.
Incumbent Republicans Tom Hoover and Larry Martindale and Bill Musser were unopposed.
Four towns didn’t need elections
Mentone — The town had a convention this summer. Winners include Republican Clerk-Treasurer Nicki Norris as well as Republican Shelly Krueger and Jill Goss and Democrat Timothy Croy for the town council.
North Webster — The town had a convention this summer. Republicans Dan Thystrup, Lisa Strombeck and David Waliczek were elected to town council and Alice Betsy Luce returns as clerk-treasurer.
Silver Lake — The town had a convention this summer. Winners include Republican Tonyas Conley for clerk-treasurer and Republicans Hugh Murfin, Nicole Taylor and Chad Miner for town council.
Winona Lake — There was no opposition on the ballot. Winning candidates were Clerk-Treasurer Kent Adams and town council candidates Jim Zachary, Denny Duncan and Heather Jones. All four are Republicans.
