Two Candidates On Ballot For Etna Green Clerk-Treasurer
ETNA GREEN — Two candidates are on the general election ballot this year for Etna Green clerk-treasurer. Patricia K. Cook (R) and Amanda C. (Mandy) Ewing (D) are vying for the position.
Jason W. Hanes, Susan Klinefelter and incumbent Keith Claassen, all Republicans, are running unopposed for Etna Green Town Council.
The general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Here’s a recap based on a questionnaire returned from the two competing candidates for clerk-treasurer:
Patricia K. Cook
Cook has lived in Etna Green since 1984.
She worked in the office of an auto repair business for 15 years until she became a therapeutic special needs foster parent. Cook and her husband, Andy, have fostered over 30 children and adopted five.
“I am running for clerk-treasurer because I would like to see the town grow and stay the safe place it is today,” said Cook.
“I would like to see businesses downtown again and would love to see more things like pee-wee football in town. I will make sure that fiscal responsibility is my number one priority.”
Amanda C. (Mandy) Ewing
Ewing’s work experience includes caring for the intellectually disabled and working in local factories.
“I am running for the position of clerk-treasurer at the request of some of the town’s residents,” said Ewing.
“My main concern is that the people in office at this time do not hear the people of our town. Their actions do not reflect the ideas, opinions or needs of the residents they are supposed to represent.”
“I’d like to see more cooperation, openness and respect for our residents and I would be honored to be able to be a part of that.”
