Retired WPD K9 Officer “Dax” Passes Away
WARSAW — Recently retired Warsaw Police Department K9 Officer Dax passed away on Monday, Oct. 28.
The WPD announced Dax’s passing through a Facebook post on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Dax joined the department on April 1, 2013, and was handled by Corporal Phil Reed.
“The obedience, loyalty and love Dax displayed for Phil were undeniable,” said the Facebook post. “Dax assisted the Warsaw Police Department and other surrounding agencies in countless searches for narcotics and fleeing suspects. He could often be seen during public appearances showing off his skills of locating drugs, finding people and bringing fleeing felons to justice.”
Dax was taken out of service on Sept. 5 due to a brain tumor. At the time of his passing, Warsaw’s K9 was surrounded by Cpl. Reed and his family.
