Carolyn Varab
Carolyn Varab, 70, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 10:45 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at Aperion Nursing Home in Peru.
In Tacoma, Washington, on Aug. 15, 1949, Carolyn Ann Keb was born. She was a cherished daughter of Albert Richard and Eileen H. Thompson Keb. Growing up, she shared her childhood with four sisters and three brothers.
With a strong work ethic, Carolyn worked in the production line at Kralis Brothers of Mentone for 27 years. Her memberships include the Manitou VFW # 1343, Leroy Shelton American Legion Post # 36 and Eagles auxiliaries all of Rochester. She took great joy in playing BINGO, euchre, skipbo. She collected angels, roosters and chickens. With a great ability to work with her hands, she knitted afghans, painted and colored pictures.
Carolyn is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Shawana Keb Scripter and companion Bryan Schenian of Monticello; a son, Cary Smith Jr., of Warsaw; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; four sisters, Susan Hummel of Bremen; Holly Daley, of GA; Cathy Houin, of Colorado Springs, CO; Missy Oldaker, of Warsaw; three brothers, Thomas Keb, of Bremen; Robert Keb, of Goshen; Richard Keb, of LA and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Carol in death are her parents, son-in-law, John E. Scripter in 2014 and companion Arnold Bell.
A celebration of the life of Carolyn Varab will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Pastor Thomas Keb will officiate. Interment will be in the Mentone Cemetery.
