WCS Offers Beginning Teachers New Grant Opportunity
WARSAW — Warsaw Community Schools recently announced an opportunity for new teachers to the district to explore educational experiences within their classroom.
Teachers at WCS in their first three years of teaching are invited to apply for this funding opportunity provided by the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
“WCS, in partnership with the Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation, understands that new teachers are in need of supplies and materials for their classrooms, especially during the first three years while they are furnishing their first classroom,” said Krista Polston, WCS grants and special projects coordinator. “The intention of the grant is to ensure equality of supplies and materials for all teachers and students within WCS.”
Grant requests up to $1,500 can be used for specific projects, supplies or programs including, but not limited to: program enhancement that meets curriculum guidelines, leveled texts for classroom libraries, social emotional wellness, STEM, expansion of an already existing unit, student awards, special events, professional development and parent involvement programs, excluding classroom décor. Monetary amounts will be dependent on individual requests and available funding.
“Warsaw Community Schools feels very blessed by the grant for beginning teachers’ classroom needs,” said WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert. “Many of these teachers are entering the profession lacking the monetary resources for specific classroom supplies and special project materials. This grant will assure these teachers are able to provide a wonderful and enriching learning environment for their students.”
