Cross Country Recognizes All-Conference Performers
Cross country is just days away from its semi-state ladders, but the conferences have offered its pats on the back for All-Conference performers.
NORTHERN LAKES CONFERENCE
The NLC boys saw Warsaw stand tall with a 7-0 round robin and 51 points at the championship meet to win the title outright. Jacob Kissling, Sam Lechlitner and Tanner Stiver were all named All-NLC with Fernando Niebbia earned Honorable Mention All-NLC to punctuate Jim Mills earning Coach of the Year honors. Plymouth head coach Curtis Nordmann joined Mills as Co-Coach of the Year.
Goshen earned second place to itself with a 6-1 record and 62 points at the meet. Drew Hogan, the individual champ with a time of 16:06, was joined by Cole Johnston and Tommy Claxton as All-NLC and Adrian Mora earning Honorable Mention.
The remainder of the NLC table saw Memorial (5-2), Plymouth (4-3), Northridge (1-6), Concord (3-4), NorthWood (2-5) and Wawasee (0-7) finish in order based off the championship race. All-NLC nods also went to Memorial’s Neil Terrell, NorthWood’s Brady Hunsberger, Plymouth’s Konnor Ray and Northridge’s Jaxon Miller and Jack Moore. Honorable Mentions went to Concord’s Luke Owings, Memorial’s Luis Cruz Portillo and Wawasee’s Karlson Hand.
Warsaw edged Northridge by two points, 37-35, to earn a split with the Raiders in the charts. The Tigers (6-1) had Wini Barnett, Adree Beckham and Ava Knight crack the All-NLC list, with Amanda Lusinde named Honorable Mention. The Raiders (7-0) had individual champion Haylee Hile lead the race at 18:43, and was joined by Ali Bache, Caitlin Clark and Clare Ritchie as All-NLC. Raider head coach Ryan McClane was named Coach of the Year.
Goshen, Memorial and NorthWood all finished 4-3 in the standings, but the RedHawks outscored the other two at the championship meet to take third, Memorial besting NorthWood by points. The Chargers had Morgan Dyer and the Panthers had Kaitlin Burden named All-NLC while Morgan Eash of Memorial and both Nataly Esqueda and Sophia Yordy of Goshen were all named Honorable Mention.
Also named All-NLC for the girls were Concord’s Summer Cooper and Plymouth’s Ashley Rosas. Wawasee’s Emma Ebright was named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE
All five runners for Wabash’s boys and Rochester’s girls scored in the top 12 for each team to run to championships at the Three Rivers Conference meet.
Rochester’s Mallory Hiatt and Madilyn Calloway went one-two in the race, Hiatt the winner at 19:33 with Calloway a second back. Araceli Ochoa, Charlie Pocock, Ava Cannedy and Elena Bode were also All-TRC for the Zebras, which the conference awards to the top 12 in each race. Rochester scored 38 points to hold off Manchester (51) and Maconaquah (54) for the team title. Tippecanoe Valley’s 112 was fourth, which was the only other team figure as the other schools did not have enough qualifying runners.
Also earning All-TRC in the girls standings were Manchester’s Kambree Cashdollar, Halle Briner and Josie Briner, Maconaquah’s Karli Miller, Zoe Seward and Haley Salinas, and Northfield’s Alyssa Mckillip.
Wabash had a runner-up finish from Dereck Vogel, as well as top-12’s from Jarrett Wilson, Blakely Cole, Dave Ford and Caleb Callahan to score 38 points and fend off Rochester (73) and Manchester (74). Maconaquah (122), Southwood (124), Valley (131), Peru (164) and Whitko (220) finished out the table.
Southwood’s Braden Sweet was the individual champion at 16:11. Also earning All-TRC honors were Rochester’s Peyton Hiatt and Joe Cholger, Valley’s Matthew Howes, Manchester’s Carter Bedke, Northfield’s Andrew Burns and Maconaquah’s Sam Bourne.
HOOSIER NORTH ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
The HNAC saw Winamac’s Ryan Huggler and Kate Collins win the conference titles at the meet run at Winamac. Huggler was joined by teammates Carson Bennett, Kolbey Wegner and Andres Cardenas as All-HNAC. Caston’s Micah Colvin, Austin Dague and Dakota Oldfather were also All-HNAC, joined by Knox’s Devon Toth and Triton’s Rusty Reichard and Brandon Kitch.
Honorable Mention All-HNAC for the boys includes Knox’s Brian Holton and Owen Binkley, Winamac’s Cristian Cardenas, North Judson’s Eric Materna and Pioneer’s Thomas Ehler.
The boys team table saw Winamac score a scant 30 points to roll to the title, followed by Caston (63), Knox (67), Triton (79), North Judson (132), Pioneer (161) and LaVille (167).
Collins had teammate Alexis Sheets join her as All-HNAC. Caston had four girls in Aubrey Dague, Delaney Strasser, Emma Stinson and Stevanna Young all earn All-HNAC, along with Triton’s Annie Hill and the North Judson trio of Gabby Boyd, Megan Krzyzanowski and Hanna Chaffins.
Honorable Mention All-HNAC for the girls includes Knox’s Riley Messer, North Judson’s Olivia Burkett, Winamac’s Emily Rausch, Pioneer’s Macee Baker and LaVille’s Faith Rock.
The Caston girls scored 45 points to hold off North Judson (50) and Winamac (52) to win the title. Knox (93) and Triton (100) wrapped up the table.
