Wysong And Holland Continue Doubles Run
PORTAGE — NorthWood seniors Jack Wysong and Landon Holland continued rolling in the IHSAA State Doubles Tournament Saturday, claiming the Portage Regional title with a pair of wins.
The NorthWood tandem first shut out Charles Tomaga and Nicholas Kolopanis of Hobart in the semifinals, then put away a fresh Bremen duo of Shay Kyser and Mason Porter — who received a bye at the tourney — in the championship, 6-2, 6-2.
Wysong and Holland move to an impressive 21-1 mark on the season and will advance to the state finals on Oct. 25-26 at Park Tudor in Indianapolis.
The senior pair moved into the state doubles series after remaining undefeated in team state tourney play at the time NorthWood was eliminated from the team tournament via a close 3-2 loss to Westview in the Concord Regional championship match.
State finals play is scheduled to being with quarterfinals next Friday at 2 p.m. at Park Tudor. Semifinals are set for Saturday at 10 a.m., with the championship on deck for Saturday at 2 p.m.
