UPDATE: Wednesday Morning Crash Might Have Been Caused By Insomnia
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman crashed her vehicle after an apparent bout of insomnia.
At 6:49 a.m, Wednesday, Oct. 16, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to an accident on Highlander Drive near Chickadee Lane, Warsaw.
Rosario Herendeen, 50, South Walnut Drive, Warsaw, was driving her white 2019 Nissan Sentra east on Highlander Drive. Herendeen’s Sentra struck head-on a parked 2007 Honda CRV facing west on the south side of Highlander Drive. The impact caused her vehicle to roll over on its side, and pushed the parked vehicle into a yard.
Herendeen was pinned inside her vehicle briefly. She was removed by Lutheran EMS. She suffered pain to her head, knee and wrist. Herendeen was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by Lutheran EMS.
Following the accident, Herendeen said she “doesn’t know what happened.”
She said she remembered dropping her daughter off at Nuthatch Drive. The next thing she remembered was being trapped in her vehicle following the collision.
She told police she suffers from insomnia and did not take her medication the night before.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene with damages estimated up to $5,000.
