UPDATE: One Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash
NAPPANEE — Steven K. Mitchell, 64, CR 27, New Paris, complained of pain to the head following a two-vehicle crash at 2:17 p.m. at CR 1350N and CR 700W, Tuesday, Oct. 15. Mitchell, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was transported by Nappanee EMS to Goshen General Hospital.
Benson R. Mitchell, 35, CR 27, New Paris, driver of the 2003 Saturn Vue in which Steven Mitchell was a passenger, suffered an abrasion to the elbow/lower arm. He was not transported.
Lee T. Dougherty, 21, North CR 900W, Nappanee, driver of a 1993 GMC, was not injured.
The report by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office states Dougherty was eastbound on CR 1350N approaching the intersection of North CR 700W and had slowed to make a turn onto CR 700W, but a vehicle pulled too far out into the intersection to make his turn. He stated he stopped in the roadway and waited for traffic to pass, but his vehicle was struck by Mitchell’s westbound vehicle.
Mitchell stated Dougherty’s vehicle was partially in the westbound lane and he could not avoid a collision.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Nappanee police, fire and EMS.
