NorthWood Lands Several On All-District List
INDIANAPOLIS – Tennis awards around the state took its next step as the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association chose its picks for the All-District teams.
For District 2, NorthWood headlined the selections with three of its five courts earning status. The No. 1 doubles team for the Panthers, Jack Wysong and Landon Holland, were chosen among seven doubles teams from northeast Indiana. NorthWood’s tandem, 25-1 on the season, are still alive in the IHSAA individual state tournament and play this weekend against Hobart in the Portage Regional.
On the singles side, both Wes Troyer at No. 1 and Ben Vincent at No. 2, were chosen. Troyer and Vincent both saw their seasons end at the Concord Regional. Troyer, who was chosen earlier this week to play in the North-South All-Star game in November, ended his prep career at 19-6. Vincent had an outstanding run at two, going 25-0 and not losing a set in his 25 dual matches. He repeated as Northern Lakes Conference champion and helped NorthWood to a 35-0 dual record in NLC play as well as team titles both in the NLC and sectional rounds.
Other area players earning All-District for District 2 were No. 1 stars Gabe Rodino of Northridge, Ryan Harmelink of Goshen, Kurtis Davis of Westview and Joel Mast of West Noble.
All-State players will be chosen later this month following the conclusion of the IHSAA State Finals.
