Frederick D. Wolford
Frederick D. Wolford, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 9:08 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, in Signature Healthcare, Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Warsaw to Leonard and Mary J. (Latta) Wolford. He was united in marriage for 55 years to Marjorie (West) Wolford who preceded him on Aug. 1, 2013.
He faithfully served his Nation in the United States Coast Guard during WWII as a Seaman First Class aboard the USS Hodges (AP 144) as a Seaman First Class and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle while serving as a Helmsman on a Higgins Boat Landing Craft.
Furthermore, he served his Community from 1949 to 1962 on the Warsaw Fire Department and was Fire Chief from 1960 to 1962. Later he was employed by Othy, Inc. of Warsaw as President Frank Saemann’s Personal Assistant.
His memberships included the Warsaw Masonic Lodge, Mizpah Shrine Temple of Fort Wayne where he was a member of the Horse Patrol and the Kosciusko County Shrine Club where he was member of the Mini-Bike Patrol.
He is survived by his son Troy Wolford of Edwardsburg, Mich.
Private services will be held. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
