Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
11:16 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, East CR 1000 South near South CR 400 East, Warsaw. Drivers: Kenneth R. Stanton, 49, East 700 South, Claypool; and Heather M. Metzger, 37, East 1000 South, Claypool. Stanton was driving his vehicle north on South CR 400 East. He stopped at a four-way stop and didn’t see anything in either direction. He proceeded in his vehicle through the intersection. Metzger was driving west on East 1000 South. Stanton’s vehicle collided with the rear right of Metzger’s vehicle already in the intersection. Damages up to $10,000.
8:04 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, SR 15, south of West CR 550S, Warsaw. Driver: Alan L. Young, 40, Sharon Street, Winona Lake. Young’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
4:28 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, West CR 300N, south of North CR 200W, Warsaw. Driver: Ana L. Malagon, 32, Crescent Drive, Warsaw. Malagon’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
2:17 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, West CR 1350N, west of North CR 700W, Nappanee. Drivers: Lee Dougherty, 21, North CR 900W, Nappanee; and Benson R. Mitchell, 35, CR 27, New Paris. The vehicles collided at the intersection. A passenger, Steven Mitchell, 64, New Paris, complained of head pain and was taken to a hospital. Benson Mitchell had an abrasion on his left elbow. Damage up to $25,000.
6:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, Packerton Roa, Warsaw. Driver: William Coulter, 35, Stephenson Street, Marion. A deer ran onto the roadway and collided with the driver’s side door of Coulter’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
7:46 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, SR 13, south of East CR 1250S, North Manchester. Driver: Robert R. Halderman, 83, Cass Street, Wabash. Halderman’s vehicle struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a minor, was on a skateboard and was in the road. The pedestrian was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by ambulance for pain in his lower left leg. Damage up to $2,500.
5:36 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, West CR400N, east of North CR 800W, Atwood. Drivers: Eddie R. Marvel, 23, North CR 920W, Etna Green; and Kimberly L. Ryman, 33, West CR 300N, Etna Green. Marvel’s vehicle struck Roman’s vehicle as Marvel was backing up. Damage up to $1,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:44 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, Armstrong Road, west of EMS T14 Lane, North Webster. Driver: Eddy E. Bonilla, 21, Highland Lane, Leesburg. Bonilla’s vehicle went off the road and struck small trees, bushes and wood fencing. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:24 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, East CR 200 North near Husky Trail, Warsaw. Driver: Jonathan V. Borton, 30, East CR 175 North, Warsaw. Borton was driving his vehicle east on CR 200 North when a deer entered the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, SR 15 near Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Gabriel Trost, 15, Osage Drive, Goshen; and Ankit Sinha, 31, Northstar Road 534, Richardson, TX. Passenger, Christopher D. Carlin, 21, Reynolds Drive, Bristol, in Trost’s vehicle said they were traveling south on SR 15. He said that Trost had the green light and turned left onto Center Street. Trost did not yield to the right of way and struck the left side of Sinha’s vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
8:42 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, Old Road 30 near Cheyenne Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jo A. Schmidt, 25, 13th Street, Winona Lake; and Logan M. Neal, 18, South Bause Lake Drive East, Cromwell. Schmidt was driving her vehicle east on Old Road 30 driving behind Neal’s vehicle. There were several vehicles ahead of them turning left off of Old Road 30. When Neal hit the brakes in his vehicle, Schmidt was unable to stop in time. The front end of her vehicle collided with the rear of Neal’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, SR 15 near Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Asia E. Fields, 19, East CR 800 North, North Manchester; and Paul E. Lyons, 59, South Southwood Drive, Warsaw. Fields said she was driving her vehicle north on SR 15. She said she was turning left on to Fort Wayne Street when the front right side of her vehicle struck the side of Lyon’s vehicle. Damages up to $10,000.
4:08 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, SR 15 near CR 300 North, Warsaw. Drivers: Juan Nunez, 25, East Levi Lee Road 173, Warsaw; and Carolyn J. McNess, 25, North Old SR 15 4, Warsaw. Nunez used an interpreter and said he was stopped in traffic behind McNess’s vehicle at a stoplight facing south on SR 15 at the intersection of CR 350 North. Nunez said that McNess’ began to move her vehicle when the light turned green then quickly stopped. He said his foot slipped off the brake, causing his vehicle to collide with the rear of McNess’ vehicle. McNess said she stopped her vehicle to avoid colliding with the vehicle in front of her vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
3:36 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, CR 150 West near Executive Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Diptha R. Arjun, 32, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw; and Jorge J. Alicea Garcia, 32, Cardinal Drive, Warsaw. Arjun said she was driving her vehicle north on CR. 150 West and saw traffic was backed near Executive Drive. Traveling at 40 mph, she said she applied her brakes and began to slide on the rain-slicked road. She said the front of her vehicle collided with the rear of Garcia’s vehicle, which was stopped in the road for traffic. Damages up to $10,000.
2:43 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, West Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Boyd D. Sallee, 33, East Paige Road, Columbia City; and Amelia Montes, 51, Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Sallee said he was parked in the Zimmer Building 5 parking lot, facing north in the northwest corner. Sallee was backing his vehicle out of the parking spot and backed into Montes’ vehicle. Sallee’s vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper area. Montes’ vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side door area. Damages up to $10,000.
2:36 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, SR 15 near Ranch Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dustin D. Hileman, 28, West Third Street 3, Burlington; and Shawn M. Pierce, 45, West CR700 North, Columbia City. Both vehicles were driving south on SR 15. Hileman said he looked down at his phone while driving for a brief moment and when he looked up, Pierce slowed his vehicle to a stop. Hileman’s vehicle rear-ended the trailer attached to Pierce’s vehicle. Hileman’s vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. Damages up to $10,000.
8:49 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, Highlander Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Rosario Herendeen, 50, Walnut Drive, Warsaw. Herendeen’s vehicle struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle, causing Herendeen’s vehicle to roll on its side. Herendeen was pinned inside the vehicle and was extricated by first responders. She complained of pain to her head, knee and wrist and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by EMS. Damage up to $5,000.
6:04 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, Detroit Street, east of Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Alex E. Calix Miranda; 19, Harbour Drive, Kimmell; and Zachary M. Eller, 31, Barrymore Run, Roanoke. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage up to $10,000.
11:48 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, Jalynn Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Adam C. Martin, 36, South CR 300W, Columbia City; and Ricky J. Whitaker, 62, Oriole Drive, Warsaw. The vehicles collided in a parking lot. Damage up to $10,000.
