UPDATE: One Injured In Syracuse Crash
SYRACUSE — Jerry L. Wright, 64, North Fourth of July Avenue, Syracuse, was transported to an area hospital for pain in his entire body, following a crash on North Indiana Avenue, south of East Wood Street, Syracuse. The crash was at 10:37 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
Wright, who was trapped in his vehicle, had to be extricated by Turkey Creek Fire Territory.
Syracuse Police report Lucas T. Roberts, 16, Drew Lane, New Paris, was northbound in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he looked down at his phone. His vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane of travel, hitting Wright’s 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Wright stated while he saw the Jeep enter his lane of travel he was unable to avoid the collision.
After the Jeep struck the Chevrolet, it continued north, going off the west side of the road and hitting a parked 2011 Dodge Ram, in the overflow parking lot for Colbin Tool. The Dodge is registered to Wesley C. Johnson, EMS W11 Lane, North Webster.
Indiana Avenue was shut down until the vehicles could be removed. Traffic was re-routed through the parking lot of the post office onto North Harrison Street.
Damage was estimated up to $10,000.
