John Jay Mahler
John Jay Mahler was born in Niles, Mich. Nov. 27, 1945, to Arthur Jay Mahler and Verna Mae (Randall) Mahler.
As a youngster, he lived with his parents on Olson Road between Monterey and Leiters Ford. He graduated from Aubeenaubee High School.
On Sept. 17, 1965, he married Linda Carl, and together they had six children. He and his wife had a goat farm near Argos. They later divorced. He was formerly employed at the old Montgomery Ward store in Plymouth, and Plymouth LP Gas Company. He was currently retired and living in Mentone, Indiana.
He enjoyed playing cards and putting together jigsaw puzzles. He loved to spend time with his youngest daughter, Grace.
He is survived by his former wife Linda Mahler White, Mishawaka; two sons: Joshua (Sheila) Mahler, of Warsaw; and Sam (Marsha) Mahler, of Monterey; three daughters: Joy (Chris) Greeney, of Elkhart; Faith (Matt) Enis, of South Bend; and Grace (Christopher) Lloyd, of Winona Lake. His children have blessed him with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: LeRoy Mahler, of Shelbyville; Dennis (Delores) Mahler, of Mooresville; and sister: Beverly (Dean) Haschel, of Monterey; along with many nieces and nephews.
Proceeding him in death were his parents and infant son, Abraham.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, at The Hub-Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N SR 15, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
