Officer Navarro Educates On Workplace Security To Local HR Professionals
WARSAW — Officer Roy Navarro was invited to present to local human resources professionals at the October meeting of the Kosciusko Human Resources Association.
Navarro is a school resource officer with Warsaw Police Department.
Navarro spoke to HR professionals on the importance of workplace security and utilizing the ALICE technique practiced by many school systems, businesses and churches throughout the United States, said a news release from the KHRA.
ALICE stands for Alert, Lock Down, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.
He shared examples with some opportunities for role-playing in order to influence the necessity of awareness and preparedness within the workplace. Navarro also connected with HR professionals through his previous experience of working in recruiting prior to his career in law enforcement.
Businesses are vulnerable to the potential aftermath of an active shooter, aggressive intruder or a mass shooting event. To meet OSHA’s General Duty Clause, each company should be prepared to protect its employees from potential workplace violence.
ALICE training provides companies and employees with strategic response protocols that are designed to help counter violent actions. This training business program increases the chances of survival for workplaces and employees in addition to protecting brand reputation and minimizing litigation fees and other fines.
