21st Annual Warsaw Friends Of NRA Banquet And Fundraiser To Be Held This Month
NORTH WEBSTER — The 21st Annual Warsaw Friends of NRA banquet and fundraiser will take place Oct. 19, at the North Webster Community Center.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event includes a hearty sit-down meal catered by Holy Smokes BBQ Company and Chubbies Pub and Grub. A cash bar will also be available. Events for the evening include firearm raffles, a live auction, a silent auction and other games of chance, according to a news release from the group.
The Friends of NRA raises money to promote the shooting sports in Indiana for youth, women and the disabled. Local organizations that have received money from the NRA Foundation in recent years include the Warsaw High JROTC program, 4-H Programs in Kosciusko County and all of the surrounding counties, the Grace College Shooting Sports program and the Grace Archery program, the Dirt Devils program at the KOSKO Shotgun Sports Complex and the Junior Sharpshooters air rifle program at the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. Money is obtained by submitting a grant request through the NRA Foundation, and typical grants range from $3,000 to $4,500 but can be more, depending on the size of the program.
Indiana has led the nation each of the last three years in fundraising dollars for the FNRA. In 2018 the state collectively, from 26 different FNRA events, brought in more than $1.45 million dollars for the shooting sports. That $1.45 million was not only an Indiana state record, but it was also an all-time national record for any state in the 26-year history of the FNRA, the news release said.
