Lancers Place Second At Egypt Valley
ADA, Mich. — Grace’s men’s golf team produced one of its more complete tournaments of the fall at the Taylor’s Egypt Valley Invitational.
The Lancers placed second as a team, thanks to Payton Kelly’s medalist performance at Egypt Valley Country Club.
Kelly improved over all three rounds. After Monday’s opening two rounds, Kelly sat in seventh place on the individual leaderboard with a 76-75. But Kelly charged up the leaderboard on Tuesday, posting a 1-under 71 to tie for medalist honors.
Blake Lawson also earned All-Tournament recognition. He was the steadiest golfer Grace had, producing a scorecard of 76-75-75 to finish fifth overall.
Noah Wright had three rounds in the 70s; he fired 78-75 on the opening day and ended with a 79 on Tuesday.
Jacob Abrahamson carded two rounds of 77 on Monday and ended with a tournament total of 236, and Camden Gongwer rounded out Grace’s scoring with a 247.
Chase Byron also competed as an individual, highlighted by a first-round 78.
The Lancers are home on Friday and Saturday, taking on the Battle at the Henge which is held at Stonehenge Golf Club. Friday will tee off at 11 a.m. with Saturday to start at 9 a.m.
