Awards Keep Rolling In For Stillson
NAPPANEE – When you finish among the best, people will notice. Cybil Stillson is getting noticed.
The sophomore golf superstar from NorthWood capped her second season with a sixth-place finish at the IHSAA State Finals last weekend. Her work afforded a spot among the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association All-State Team.
Stillson’s two-day total of 149 helped NorthWood to a sixth-place team finish as well as her sixth-place individual finish. Her two-day total is a school record for a finals total, as was her placing, three better than Amy Thompson’s ninth-place showing in 2009.
Stillson was one of two golfers from the area to earn the honor, joining Culver Academy’s Reese Wilson. State champion Homestead had three named to the list in Madison Dabagia, Morgan Dabagia and Simone Senk and Zionsville had two in Annabelle Pancake and Lauren Kaltenmark. Also making the list were Katie Kuc of Carmel, Madeline Pape of Fort Wayne Luers, Angelica Pfefferkorn of Guerin Catholic, Jocelyn Bruch of Westfield and state champion Faith Johnson of Evansville North.
Stillson also earned an honor from the Regional Radio Sports Network, garnering the Centier Bank Performer of the Week.
The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area. The award, which also was given to Valparaiso quarterback CJ Opperman, highlighted Stillson’s performance at the state finals. RRSN issues the award weekly to athletes across northwest and north central Indiana.
