PIERCETON — The Pierceton Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the October 2019 Member of the Month winner as Harvest Community Church.
Harvest Community Church is a local, independent Evangelical church which focuses on ministering to individuals, families and the community.
Pastor Glenn Hall explained, “We have built a comfortable place for people to hear the message of the Gospel. We love this community and the people in it.”
Harvest Community Church began in 2004 as a home-based group of members who wanted to gather to have a mix of contemporary and traditional worship together. Quickly growing, Harvest Community Church was formed and began meeting at Whitko Middle School in Larwill where it was a “mobile church”. Each week, the lecture room was changed into a sanctuary where a group of then 32 members could gather to minister and worship with one another. Pastor Glenn Hall is thankful for the partnership the church had with the school system, as he stated, “They were incredibly kind to us. No matter the weather, we were able to join in worship at the school for 11 years.”
Now, almost five years later and with more than a hundred members, Harvest Community Church is located on South Seventh Street in Pierceton on 6.5 acres of land. The church has many aspirations of continuing to grow their congregation and service to the community. Harvest Community Church holds Sunday Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school being held an hour prior to service. A mid-week prayer service is held on Wednesday at 6:30pm. All are welcome!
Harvest Community Church is also a space open to the other civic organizations to meet and gather throughout the week. The Pierceton Girl Scout Troop 50568 hosts their bi-weekly meetings in the fellowship hall along with a weekly Women’s Group that meets on Monday’s at 9 a.m. for Bible Study and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. for quilting and crafting. A monthly Men’s Prayer Breakfast is held at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of every month.
As seen through their missions and community outreach, “We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ” Pastor Hall stated. Harvest Community Church is a supporter of World Vision Kids and several other regional and foreign missions. They are continuously looking for ways to partner with the other community churches, such as assisting in the Pierceton community dinner held at the Catholic Hall. This past year, with their annual Thanksgiving meal gift baskets, Harvest Community Church helped 65 families and provided a full harvest meal with everything they would need to feed a family gathering, including desserts.
