TIPPECANOE VALLEY 3, WABASH 2
Valley had plenty to celebrate Thursday night in its 18-25, 25-14, 25-15, 11-25, 15-10 win over the visiting Apaches. Not only did Valley earn its 18th win of the season and fifth Three Rivers Conference win, but celebrated a pair of individual milestones. Makenzie Woodcox became the second player in program history to surpass 1,000 kills, her third of the night reaching the mark. Woodcox had 15 more for a grand total of 18 kills, putting her at 1,015 for her career, joining Sophie Bussard (1,075) as the only two players in Valley history to reach four figures. Hannah Engstrand also got the big number balloons for setting up her 1,100th point with 42 assists on the night. It was the fifth time this season Engstrand has had at least 40 assists in a match and keeps her in the top 20 for assists in the state (725).
Adding to the win for the Vikings were Delaney Wagoner with 19 digs, Alli Betten with five aces and Bree Sheetz with three blocks.
Wabash won its marathon JV match with Valley 25-20, 19-25, 15-10. Mallory Durkes had 14 kills, two aces and two blocks for the Vikings, Macy Kirchenstien adding 22 assists.
ELKHART MEMORIAL 3, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee pushed Memorial, but the Chargers were too much in a trio of 25-19 results Thursday in Northern Lakes Conference play. Memorial (6-1) assured itself of at least second place in the conference with the win and Warsaw’s loss at NorthWood. The Panthers are 6-0 in NLC play and can win the NLC outright at Wawasee next Thursday. The Warriors were busy with Memorial, led by nine digs, five kills, four aces and three blocks from Leslie Vazquez. Madi Simmons had 12 digs and five kills, Emma Dippon 11 kills, two aces and a block and Liz Kleopfer had nine assists and six digs.
Memorial captured the JV contest 25-19, 25-11. Wawasee had Laney Gross, Talia Kuhl, Clara Kerlin and Delaney Hare combine for 23 digs.
Memorial won the freshman contest 21-25, 25-11, 15-12. Sydney Baker led Wawasee in aces, with Zoe Taylor and Alexis Mishler pacing the team in kills.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE 2, ROCHESTER 0
Lakeview knocked off the junior Zebras 25-9, 25-13. Jael Namfukwe and Kenzie Chivington combined for 11 kills and seven aces. Olivia Devenney and Maya Contreras each had three aces.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE 2, ROCHESTER 0
The Tigers won their 22nd game in 24 tries with a 25-16, 25-15 win. Daihya Chupp had seven assists, two digs, a kill and an ace in the win. Leila Knepp added four kills.
BETHANY CHRISTIAN 8TH GRADE 2, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 0
Leah Forshtay had three kills, three assists and an ace for the Cougars in the 25-21, 25-18 loss. Amanda Hoyt added two kills and an ace and Addisyn Daley had two aces.
LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 7TH GRADE 2, BETHANY CHRISTIAN 0
Lani Calizo and Isabelle Miller each had three aces for the Cougars in the 25-14, 25-12 win. Claire Schindel added three kills and an ace.
WABASH 6TH GRADE 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Wabash took both halves of the matchup with Valley, the A-team winning 20-25, 25-15, 15-9, and the B-team winning 25-17, 20-25, 15-3. Stats were not provided.
