NORTHRIDGE BOYS 7, WAWASEE 0
Northridge kept its hopes alive for a share of the Northern Lakes Conference title with a big win over Wawasee Tuesday in Syracuse. Northridge scored three goals in the first half and poured it on in the second half to run away with the match. Goal scorers for the Raiders were not provided. Ridge moves to 4-0-2 in the NLC, tied with NorthWood (5-2) for second in the standings. Warsaw, which is 6-0, will visit Northridge Thursday with the conference on the line.
The Northridge JV won its game with Wawasee 5-0.
ARGOS BOYS 5, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 3
In a matchup of the Dragon JV versus Valley, the Vikings let a two-goal lead slip away. First half goals from Jorge Rosas and Christian Ramirez had Valley up a deuce. Argos, however, scored the next five goals uninterrupted to take command of the game. Valley wraps up the regular season Thursday at LaVille.
CULVER ACADEMY 8, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 0
The Eagles took it to the Cougars on the banks of Lake Maxinkuckee. After scoring 28 goals in its past five matches, LCA was held to just four shots on goal in the Northern Indiana Soccer Conference contest. CMA fired 21 shots on target, forcing Peter Koller into 13 saves to keep the damage limited to what already transpired.
“We didn’t play with much energy or urgency tonight,” said LCA head coach Dan Miller. “It was a disappointing performance. I was proud of Brayden Lane for being the standout from our team with his hard work.”
ELKHART MEMORIAL GIRLS 6, WAWASEE 0
Wawasee lost its sixth straight match via shutout and hasn’t scored a goal in NLC play since an 8-1 loss at Concord on Aug. 31. Wawasee falls to 0-6 in the NLC with a roadie at NorthWood Thursday night.
PLYMOUTH GIRLS 6, NORTHWOOD 2
NorthWood lost a tough match on the road Tuesday night. Stats for the match were not provided.
LAKELAND CHRISTIAN GIRLS 4, CULVER 2
The Lady Cougars won its fifth match in six tries Tuesday at home. Jessi Calizo had a pair of goals, Tori Calizo added one and Liza Schmitt got on the board with a goal. All three girls had an assist in the first half. Finley Hobbs was a wall in net, stopping 13 of 15 Culver shots.
“We didnt start slow,” stated LCA head coach Nat Raber, whose club finishes the regular season Thursday at Bremen. “I challenged the team today to go out with a fast start and they did just that. Two goals in the first six and a half minutes is great. The most important thing is it was an injury free game. I loved the way Finley Hobbs played. She responded very well after letting one by her that I know she wants back and pulled off some great saves for us. They had some really good strikers and I think we learned a thing or two tonight that is only going to make us better.”
FORT WAYNE CARROLL GIRLS 2, WARSAW 1
In a battle of ranked opponents, No. 16 Carroll beat No. 19 Warsaw in the shadows of the Allen County Fairgrounds. Maddy Welker and Sarah Hauser scored for Carroll in the first half and held on. Warsaw’s Abby Steffensmeier scored in the second half to cut the lead in half, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Warsaw hosts Northridge Thursday in a battle of 6-0 teams playing for the Northern Lakes Conference title. The two teams have played for the title in now a fourth consecutive season.
The junior varsities tied 1-1. A Taylon Chastain penalty kick goal with 10 minutes left pulled Warsaw even with Carroll. Emily Bugg made seven saves in net to get the point.
