Winona Lake Oktoberfest Event Happening Sept. 28
WINONA LAKE — Winona Lake’s annual Oktoberfest event is happening this Saturday, Sept. 28.
The day-long event includes a variety of German-themed activities for all ages, from train rides and food, to live music and beer at The Garden.
Oktoberfest celebrations start at 11 a.m. with a Porsche show on East Canal Street. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Spoonful of Imagination will have kids’ activities and crafts at the Center Pavilion. Train rides are also taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with boarding happening at the LetterWood Paper Company parking lot. Cider press demonstrations will take place at the top of every hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Food drop-off for the Oktoberfest homemade streusel contest will start at 11 a.m. at the activity tent, located near Rocket Fizz and Green Earth Multisport. Judging for the contest is at noon and anyone is allowed to enter.
Local businesses in The Village at Winona are also participating in a scarecrow contest. Each participating shop was tasked with making a scarecrow and attendees will get to vote for their favorite creation. Additional tickets for the voting process will be available for $1 each, with all proceeds benefitting Winona Lake Limitless Park.
At 3 p.m., The Garden at Winona will open and the 60 Minute Ride/Run Trail Fundraiser benefitting the Winona Lake trails will start. Participants can ride, run or walk the trails or greenway. Pass through The Garden during each lap for a free beverage. There is a $20 registration fee, with registration and check-in starting at 2:30 p.m.
Food service at The Garden will begin at 4 p.m., with live music by Sum Morz at 6:30 p.m.
There will also be raffles throughout the evening for prizes from Trailhouse Village Bicycles, Green Earth Multisport, The Lake House, Winona Bike Works and more.
