Trees Being Removed (And Eventually Replaced) Along Center Street Tuesday Morning
WARSAW — One block of Center Street in downtown Warsaw will be closed early Tuesday morning for tree removal.
The section of road between Indiana and Buffalo Streets will be closed between 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The removal of trees is part of a five-year plan in which overgrown, unhealthy trees along the street will replaced with smaller trees that work better in urban settings, said Mayor Joe Thallemer.
The replacement of downtown trees is being done in stages over time. They will not be removing all of the downtown trees at one time.
Thallemer said there will be seven trees removed this week. Replacement trees will be planted this fall as soon as the nursery can accommodate the work.
Several trees have previously been removed because they were unhealthy, the city said.
