Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following accidents:
9:21 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, CR 175E, 10 feet south of East CR 200N, Warsaw. Driver: Nicholas O. Roberts, 39, North 175 East, Warsaw. Roberts was driving his vehicle north on CR 175 when, for an unknown reason, Roberts’ vehicle exited the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Damages up to $25,000.
7:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, CR 200S, 1,500 feet east of South State Road 25, Warsaw. Driver: Linda Hughes, 67, South Tinkey Road, Mentone. Hughes’ vehicle struck a deer. Damages up to $2,500.
5:41 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, CR 1250N, 10 feet south of East Wawasee Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Aaron M. Walker, 21, North 500 East, Syracuse; and Edgar E. Martinez Diaz, 40, North Prince Charming Way, Cromwell. Walker was driving his vehicle when he failed to stop his vehicle at an intersection, colliding with Martinez Diaz’s vehicle. Walker said the brakes failed on his vehicle. Damages up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to the following accidents:
3:11 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, Walton Blvd, Warsaw. Drivers: Tena M. Hoffer, 52, E High Street, Etna Green; and Ashlen L. Morrow, 21, N Chauncey Street, Columbia City. Hoffer did not see Morrow’s vehicle while backing her vehicle out of a parking space, and collided with Morrow’s vehicle. Damages up to $2,500.
11:24 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, County Farm Road, 500 feet south of Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Pedestrian: Susan L. Walsh, 73, Tennessee Avenue, Willowbrook, IL. Walsh pulled her vehicle to the side of the road to take photos of First Christian Church. Walsh, thinking she put her vehicle in park, exited the vehicle. Walsh said the vehicle turned out to still be in drive. The rear tire of Walsh’s vehicle ran over her leg. The vehicle continued southbound. A witness was able to catch up to and gain control of Walsh’s vehicle. Walsh’s leg sustained minor bleeding around the knee, lower leg and foot. Walsh was transported to the hospital for treatment. Damages up to $750.
4:00 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, Detroit Street, 600 feet south of CR 350N, Warsaw. Driver: Cristina Cortes-Valenzuela, 23, S 400 West, Warsaw. Cortes-Valenzuela’s vehicle struck a deer. Damages up to $2,500.
4:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Parker Street, 300 feet south of US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Unknown; and Brielle G. Fehlmann, 17, East Dresden Drive, Warsaw. Fehlmann said that another vehicle was stopped on Parker Street at the intersection of US 30. Fehlmann said the second vehicle drove up behind and collided with her vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle drove off after the traffic signal changed. Damages up to $750.
1:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Lake City Highway, near Old Road 30, Warsaw. Driver: Janet L. Orban, 67, Crestlane Drive, Warsaw. Orban said she was driving east on Lake City Highway. As she drove her vehicle through the Old Road 30 intersection, a gas can and bucket of yellow traffic paint fell from the open tailgate of a truck driving in front of Orban’s vehicle. Orban said she swerved to miss the gas can, but Orban’s vehicle collided with the paint can, spraying yellow paint and leaving scratches on Orban’s vehicle. Damages up to $1,000.
12:37 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Maye Street, Warsaw. Driver: Dylan C. Schaffer, 22, Maye Street, Warsaw. Schaffer’s vehicle collided with a parked car while backing out of Schaffer’s driveway. Damages up to $2,500.
11:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Husky Trail, Warsaw. Drivers: Nancy L. Jackson, 72, Frank Lane, Warsaw; and Kari E. Foster, 38, West Prairie Street, Leesburg. Jackson was driving her vehicle out of a parking lot and did not see Foster’s vehicle traveling through the parking lot. Jackson continued to drive her vehicle out of the parking spot, colliding with Foster’s vehicle. After the accident, the passenger in Foster’s vehicle complained of dizziness from hitting their head during the collision. The passenger refused treatment. Damages up to $5,000.
4:06 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: William N. Hart, 21, West Huntington Street, North Webster; and Denise R. Threesh, 45, CR 350W, Warsaw. Hart was backing his vehicle out of a parking spot in the Aldi parking lot. Hart did not see Threesh’s vehicle already backed out of a parking spot behind his vehicle. Hart’s vehicle backed into Threesh’s vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
