Florence H. ‘Helen’ Vanlaningham
Florence H. “Helen” Vanlaningham, 89, Milford, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at her son’s home in Milford. She was born on June 14, 1930 in Burrows, IN to Clarence & Myrtle (Gibson) Starbuck.
She graduated from Camden High School and was married on Jan. 3, 1949, in Delphi to Hazel R. Vanlaningham, who preceded her on Nov. 21, 2017. She moved to Milford 68 years ago from Camden and retired from Chore Time in Milford after 20 years.
She was a member of the Syracuse Church of God, formerly attended Bethel Brethren Church of Milford, and was an avid swimmer at the Y.M.C.A. in Warsaw.
She is survived by her daughter: Cheryl (Dan) Robinson, Warsaw; three sons: Rick (Sandy) Vanlaningham of Columbia City, Michael Vanlaningham of Warsaw, and Steve (Susan) Vanlaningham of Milford; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchldren; and three great-great-grandchildren; sister: Beverly Barturek, Logansport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters: Amy Vanlaningham and Karen Sue Vanlaningham, three sisters: Viola Simons, Evelyn Jervis, and Sarah Lane, and four brothers: George, Clarence, Marion, and Jim Starbuck.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with her son, Rick Vanlaningham officiating. Burial will take place in the Milford Cemetery.
