WINONA LAKE — Tickets are now on sale for “Christmas in the Village: One Starry Night,” a gala choral and instrumental holiday concert featuring Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Winona Heritage Room in Winona Lake.
“One Starry Night” is a joint effort featuring The King’s Brass, Lakeland Community Choir, Grace College Lancer Chorus, Lakeland Youth Chorale, and the Symphony of the Lakes. Tickets, at $10 each, are now on sale at the Wagon Wheel box office, online at www.wagonwheelcenter.org, and will also be available at the door.
Sponsored jointly by Grace College, The Village at Winona, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, and Classic Arts Programs, the evening will include choral, orchestral and brass numbers focusing on music of the holiday season. Among the 18 numbers on the program will be “O Come, O Come Emmanuel, “Carol of the Bells,” selections from “Messiah,” “Wexford Carol,” and other Christmas repertoire.
Special guests Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass provide innovative worship for young and old alike through the best in sacred brass music by Christian professionals from around the United States. For 40 years, The King’s Brass have performed over 100 concerts each season with three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, keyboards and percussion.
Tim Zimmerman, founder and director of The King’s Brass, received his degree in trumpet performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and has performed with orchestras in the Midwest and eastern U.S. Zimmerman was chairman of the music department at Grace College for 13 years and has also taught at Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan Universities.
Dr. Judie Meulink, president of the Classic Arts Programs, describes the evening’s repertoire as a “rich sampling of choral, orchestral and brass music which will set the tone for a worshipful and meaningful Christmas season.”
