Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
6:59 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, East CR 450N, east of North CR 100E, Warsaw. Driver: Kristie M. Lane, 45, East CR 450N, Warsaw. Lane said a deer entered the roadway and collided with the center passenger side of her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:52 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, Amanda Drive, south of West CR 900S, Claypool. Driver: Garland Daugherty, 52, West SR 25, Mentone. Daugerty said he was approaching a 90 degree curve in the roadway when he took a drink and his right side tires went off the roadway. His vehicle went into a ditch and struck an iron field marker. A tank in the back of the vehicle slid into the back window of the vehicle and shattered it. Damage up to $2,500.
11:26 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, US 30, east of Warbler Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Karah A. Palmer, 42, Kinnaird Avenue, Fort Wayne. Kinnaird said another vehicle began merging into her lane. To avoid striking the vehicle, Kinnaird said she was forced into the median where her vehicle struck a sign. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
5:25 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, US 30 and Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Joseph S. Gomez, 19, Anchorage Road, Warsaw; and Kyrstin L. Mays, 24, Timberline Circle, Warsaw. The vehicles collided at the intersection when Gomez was attempting to make a left turn. Witnesses reported that Gomez jumped out of the vehicle as it was rolling into a ditch on the southeast side of the intersection and that Gomez then took off running. Gomez was later located and admitted that he panicked due to his license being suspended and not having insurance on the vehicle he was driving. Mays complained of pain in her knee and foot. Damage up to $10,000.
1:54 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, Parker Street, north of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth K. Shafer, 37, West Wayne Street, Pierceton; Breana R. McDaniel, 19, St. Augustines Drive, Warsaw; and Linda S. Scalet, 71, East CR 100N, Warsaw. Shafer was attempting to pull her vehicle into the far left lane of traffic to make a left turn and did not notice McDaniel’s vehicle traveling south in the left lane. This caused McDaniel’s vehicle to strike Shafer’s. The collision then caused Shafer’s vehicle to strike Scalet’s. Damage up to $10,000.
