Officers with the Kosciusko Sherrif’s Office investigated the following accidents:
4:03 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 7294 Lutes Drive, Atwood. Driver: Bethann McGurn, 53, Grandview Drive, Warsaw. McGurn told officers she was lost and didn’t realize Lutes Drive discontinues. McGurn drove the vehicle off the north side of Lutes Drive through a grass yard and struck a steep ditch. McGurn was transported from the scene with neck pain. Damages up to $5,000.
3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, EMS B48 Lane, west of North CR 700E, North Webster. Driver: Mark Walton, 60, North CR 650W, Ligonier. Walton was driving a semi-tractor trailer east on EMS B48 Lane when the vehicle struck electrical wires suspended over the road. Damages up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:01 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, SR 15, north of Jaylnn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Steven Weaver, 69, CR 875W, Claypool; and Amanda Little, 31, CR 800N, North Manchester. Weaver’s vehicle was in the far left left-turn lane onto Jalynn Street while Little’s vehicle was in the far right left-turn lane. Weaver thought his vehicle was actually in the far right left-turn lane and entered that lane while turning, striking Little’s vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
10:35 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, East CR 200N, north of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Alfred Webber, 82, EMS C19A Lane, Warsaw; and Brandon Watson, 37, Macarthur Avenue, South Bend. Webber stopped at the intersection for a red light and thought he was too far forward. Webber began to back up his vehicle, striking Watson’s vehicle in the process. Damages up to $2,500.
6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Lonnie Slone, 60, West CR 600N, Warsaw. Slone told officers he did not see the concrete barrel that held the stop sign on Frontage Road and struck it with his vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
10:13 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, CR 350N, east of SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: John Hackworth, 28, Line Street, South Whitley; and Vivian Mundinger, 81, CR 400N, Warsaw. Hackworth’s vehicle was stopped at the intersection in the straight/right turn lane when he realized he wanted to turn left. Hackworth began backing up to switch lanes and struck Mundinger’s vehicle with his trailer. Damages up to $2,500.
7:53 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, US 30, west of CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Caleb Serwatka, 19, Windyridge Drive, South Bend; and Jennifer Meadway, 23, Shaffer Road, Bourbon. Serwatka’s vehicle rear-ended Meadway’s vehicle while approaching the intersection. Serwatka told officers he wasn’t sure what happened but thought he might have fallen asleep. Damages up to $5,000.
2:08 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 644 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. Driver: Debbie Whybrew, 46, Poplar St., Silver Lake. Whybrew was driving a Warsaw Community Schools schoolbus northbound on Buffalo Street. Whybrew said that the last thing she remembered was that she was feeling dizzy but did not recall the actual crash. Witnesses saw the school bus cross the center lane, drive over a curb, striking a fire hydrant and a car wash sign. Whybrew was transported for injuries including minor bleeding to the head. Damages up to $5,000.
