Gene H. Stoffel
Gene H. Stoffel, 90, of Syracuse, passed away on Aug. 30, 2019, at Masons Health Care. He was born on Sept. 14, 1928 in Huntington to Frank and Mary (Gill) Stoffel.
He was a US Army veteran having served in Korea. He was a Budweiser rep for many years. Upon retirement, he owned and operated the liquor store in Pierceton.
He was an avid golfer, having belonged to many golf clubs, including So. Bend CC, Maplecrest CC, Tippy CC, LaFountaine CC, Crooked Lake CC, South Shore, and Max Welton. The latter two over 60 years. He was Club Champion in all of them, some of them several times. He won several Indiana Amateur titles and Senior Amateur titles.
Gene Stoffel is survived by his wife: Gloria Stoffel of Syracuse; one son: Randy (Vicki) Stoffel of Florida; one daughter: Shellann Stewart of Idaho; three stepdaughters: Cinda (Bart) Culver of North Webster; Candice (Tim) Hine of North Webster; and Cathy Heckaman of Syracuse; three stepsons: Christopher (Kathy) Singrey of Milford; Chad Singrey of Larwill; and Curt Singrey of Warsaw; 13 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; one sister: Helene Craig of Huntington.
He was preceded by an infant son, one stepdaughter, one grandson, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Eastlund Funeral Home with a memorial service at 11 followed by Military rites.
