Warsaw Library Promotes Library Card Sign-Up Month
By Laurie Voss, Circulation Supervisor
WARSAW — National Library Card Sign-Up Month is September and we at the Warsaw Community Public Library would like to encourage you to get yours.
Studies show that children who read perform better in school. Reading early supports cognitive development, improves language skills, prepares for academic success, promotes concentration and creativity and creates a lifelong love of learning. We would like to ensure that every child in this community has access to materials at the Warsaw Community Public Library.
For preschool-age children, we offer early morning literacy programs involving reading and activities with both the child and parent. It is never too early to start the love of reading and the love of the library.
Library Card Sign-Up Month isn’t just for children though. We encourage all ages to obtain their library card and enjoy the vast selections that we offer.
The Warsaw Community Public Library offers free library cards to Wayne Township residents as they pay taxes to directly support the library. All school-age children in Warsaw Community School are also offered free library cards even if they are not Wayne Township residents. Homeschool students that are in the Warsaw School system area can also get free library cards as well as students in our local colleges. Other townships in the county can contact the library for further information.
Our librarians excel in assisting you and old alike in finding favorite authors, research information, database assistance and great programming throughout each month. Stop in at any desk and get a calendar for each month’s activities.
In honor of Library Card Sign-Up Month, we will give away a $25 Amazing gift card to one lucky patron. We will draw a winning name at the beginning of October from all of the patrons who register for a library card during September.
Today’s libraries offer so much more than reading. There is free Wi-Fi, meeting places, programming for all ages, writing clubs, book clubs, cooking clubs, music, movies, games, computers and much more.
Stop in and get your library card and see what the excitement is all about.
