Gene Stoffel — UPDATED
Gene H. Stoffel, 90, of Syracuse, passed away on Aug. 30, 2019 at Masons Health Care.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1928, in Huntington, to Frank and Mary (Gill) Stoffel. He was a US Army veteran having served in Korea. He was a Budweiser rep for many years. Upon retirement he owned and operated the Liquor store in Pierceton.
Gene was an avid golfer, having belonged to many golf clubs, including South Bend Country Club, Maplecrest Country Club, Tippy Country Club, LaFountaine Country Club, Crooked Lake Country Club, South Shore, and Maxwelton. The latter two over 60 years. He was club champion in all of them, some of them several times. He won several Indiana Amatuer titles, and Senior Amatuer titles.
Gene is survived by his wife, Gloria Stoffel of Syracuse. one son, Randy (Vicki) Stoffel of Florida. one daughter – Shellann Stewart of Idaho; three stepdaughters, Cinda (Bart) Culver of North Webster, Candice (Tim) Hine of North Webster, and Cathy Heckaman of Syracuse; three stepsons, Christopher (Kathy) Singrey of Milford, Chad Singrey of Larwill, and Curt Singrey of Warsaw.; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helene Craig of Huntington.
He was preceded by an infant son, one stepdaughter, one grandson, two great-grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept.14 at the Eastlund Funeral Home, SR 13, Syracuse, with a memorial service at 11 followed by Military rites.
