Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, East Forth Wayne Street, east of North Tamarack Street, Warsaw. Driver: Kathy Buckheit, 57, Washington Street, Warsaw. Buckheit struck a deer in the roadway. Damages up to $2,500.
4:33 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, SR 15 and Arthur Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mariah Miller, 17, Miami Drive, Warsaw; and Fernando Niebbia, 47, Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Miller was driving southbound on SR 15 and told officers she “looked down for a second.” When Miller looked back up, she was unable to avoid striking Niebbia’s’s motorcycle which was stopped to turn on to Arthur Street. Due to the collision, Niebbia was ejected from his motorcycle and landed on the hood of Miller’s vehicle. Niebbia suffered no injuries. Damages up to $2,500.
10:34 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, East Center and North Harrison streets, Warsaw. Drivers: Luke Schmidt, 17, South CR 775E, Pierceton; and Chikin Chan, 67, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Schmidt attempted to stop his vehicle at a red light but told officers his vehicle slid due to the wet roadways, causing Schmidt’s vehicle to rear-end Chan’s vehicle. Damages up to $5,000.
