Thames “Lanny” Mauzy, Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at his residence at the age of 80.
He was born on May 28, 1939 in Warsaw, to Helen K. (Nelson) Mauzy and Thames Leroy Mauzy. He married Margaret (Anderson) Mauzy in 1973, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage before his passing.
Mr. Mauzy was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a 1957 graduate of Warsaw High School. He enjoyed his years at DePauw University in Greencastle and received his bachelor’s degree in 1961.
His family owned Mauzy’s Home Furniture Mart in Warsaw for 29 years. He was also a realtor, having worked most of his career with RE/Max and most recently for Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group for 15 years. He was a past member and Deacon of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, member and past president of the Mizpah Shrine of Kosciusko County.
He enjoyed playing the organ, but not as much as he loved spending as much time as he was able to on the lake. He was an outstanding skier, enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. He loved sitting on his back porch and enjoying the view he had of Winona Lake. He will be dearly missed by his family and countless friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret Mauzy, Warsaw; daughter: Stacey (P.J.) Cox, Warsaw; and his beloved grandchildren: Chandler and Ronan Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sharon Shaver.
Family and friends are invited to come celebrate Lanny Mauzy’s life by stopping by to visit and share memories with the family from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Mauzy Residence, 1524 Country Club Drive East, Warsaw.
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
