PIERCETON — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly battering a woman and threatening to shoot a police officer.

On Aug. 6, an officer with the Pierceton Police Department responded to a report of domestic battery at a residence.
According to court documents, two women and a child were at the residence when the battery occurred. Shelton arrived at the residence, kicked the back door open and struck one of the women multiple times. He then used a baseball bat and broke two windows in the residence. Shelton then left the residence with the woman and child.
Kosciusko County dispatch later reported a man hitting a child inside a vehicle. An officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle and discovered the woman and child sitting inside it. The woman said Shelton had gone into a residence to hide. Officers received consent to enter the residence and found Shelton hiding in a bedroom. Shelton resisted officers and said he had a gun and was going to shoot the officer.
