LEESBURG — A Leesburg man was arrested following an argument that allegedly turned physical when a skateboard was thrown, injuring another man.
Karsen Green, 18, 204 W. Prairie St., Leesburg, is charged with battery, a class A misdemeanor; and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, a class C misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 14, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was contacted in reference to two men fighting on the porch of a residence.
Upon arrival at the residence, an officer talked to the homeowner, who said Green and another man came to his residence, where Green was confronted by the homeowner’s wife about why he was there. This apparently upset Green and the two men left.
A short time later, Green allegedly returned to the residence and was told to leave. The homeowner said that while he was standing on the porch of the residence. Green, who was standing in the yard in front of the porch about 10 feet away threw a skateboard at the homeowner, striking his ankle.
The homeowner said Green then attempted to enter the residence through the front door while the homeowner’s minor daughter was going inside. As both Green and the girl were at the front door, Green knocked her down. The homeowner said he then grabbed Green from behind to remove him from the residence in an attempt to protect his daughter, and Green turned and punched the homeowner in the forehead with a closed fist.
The officer observed a cut on the homeowner’s ankle and a red, swollen mark on the right side of his forehead. The homeowner said he wanted to press charges against Green for battery.
The officer found Green, who admitted to throwing the skateboard at the homeowner. Green said the skateboard bounced up, hitting the homeowner unintentionally. Green admitted to punching the homeowner and said he did so because the homeowner grabbed him. Green also said he did not mean to knock down the girl.
Green initially denied having consumed any alcohol but later admitted to drinking alcohol throughout the previous night. A portable breath test was administered, showing a reading of .015 percent BAC.
Green was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Aug. 14, on a $600 cash bond.
