Two Hurt In Three-Vehicle Accident Near North Webster

NORTH WEBSTER — A police chase that started at CR 450E and Armstrong Road, south of North Webster, resulted in the driver being chased being airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital. The driver, identified as David Hawthorne, was unconscious.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Kyle Dukes and KCSO Public Information Officer Chris Francis report a KCSO deputy was westbound on Armstrong near CR 450E when he observed a Ford Fiesta, eastbound pass another vehicle on a double yellow. The officer turned around and began a pursuit on a failure to yield, as the pursuit approaches the intersection with SR 13, east/west bound traffic has the red light.
The Fiesta went through the intersection hitting a southbound Dodge Ram truck, the Dodge Ram then struck a northbound Chevrolet Malibu that was waiting to turn westbound onto Armstrong Road.
The occupants in the Malibu, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, were transported by ground ambulances to Fort Wayne hospitals. The extent of their injuries are not known.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, North Webster Police Department, North Webster Fire Department/EMS and Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
NORTH WEBSTER — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident south of North Webster.
The accident happened at SR 13 and CR 500N shortly after 3 p.m. and resulted in the closing of the highway.
One person was taken by helicopter to a hospital and two others were taken by ambulance to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Vehicles included a Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Malibu and a Dodge Ram pickup.
No further details were immediately available.
