BOURBON — An alarm at the Bourbon liquor store early Sunday morning, resulted in a suspect being arrested and another alleged burglary uncovered.
Laydon Nathaniel Butler-Umanos, 34, Fort Wayne, is facing numerous felony charges including burglary, a level 2 felony.
Bourbon Police were called to an alarm at 12:58 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the liquor store in the 2900 block of 9B Road, Bourbon. While responding, officers saw a dark colored pickup truck leaving the store, heading west on Lincoln Highway. When Bourbon police attempted to perform a traffic stop, one person fled the vehicle on foot, as the driver, later identified as Butler-Umanos, continued driving west on Lincoln Highway.
The pursuit continued west to the area of Iris Road, where the vehicle drove over stop sticks deployed by a Marshall County deputy. The vehicle later ran off the roadway and was involved in a property damage collision on Lincoln Highway, east of King Road.
Butler-Umanos was arrested at the scene. Property located inside the vehicle was found to have been taken from the liquor store. Also located were items of property belonging to Country Church, north of Bourbon. Upon further investigation, police found the church had also been broken into and numerous items taken from the building.
Further charges against Butler-Umanos are pending through the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
