Etna Green Town Council Holds Brief August Meeting
ETNA GREEN — The Etna Green Town Council held a brief monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
During the meeting, resident Jason Hanes asked about the possibility of the town purchasing “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here” signs for citizens to place in their yards. Council member Kevin Smith II said he loved the idea and would look into it.
“Run for a Hero” will take place at Heritage Park in Etna Green at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with a one-mile fun run starting at 9 a.m. and a 5K starting at 10 a.m. Participants may register online at runforahero.org or on-site the day of the event. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
There will also be a Republican convention held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Heritage Park building. The convention is being conducted to reduce the number of candidates on the general election ballot for November. Eight Republican candidates have filed for Etna Green Town Council. This number includes incumbents Keith Claassen, Kevin Smith II, and Cory Ellinger.
Christopher Carter, Beverly Carter, Aaron Bakian, Susan Klinefelter and Jason Hanes have also filed for council.
