Richard Lee ‘Dutch’ Davis
Richard Lee “Dutch” Davis, 95, Mentone, passed away at 3 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at his residence. He was born on March 19, 1924, in Athens to Harvey and Fay (Kamp) Davis.
He was a lifetime Kosciusko County area resident, graduated in 1942 from Akron High School, and was a United States Marine veteran. He was married on March 1, 1947, in Fort Wayne, to Eileen Joan Study, who preceded him on Nov. 14, 2008. He was formerly employed with the Carpenter’s Union # 413 in South Bend as a tile setter.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 in Warsaw, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rochester, and V.F.W. Post 1341 in Rochester.
He is survived by two daughters: Rainelle (Terry) Dowell of Mentone and Leslie (Charles) Jarvis of Green Valley, Ariz.; son, Jeffrey Davis, Claypool; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Marvin (Nora) Davis, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Davis, two sisters, Juanita Plunkett and Mildred Creager, brother, Francis Davis, and infant brother, Dever Davis.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County 4356 N. SR 15 Warsaw. No public services will be held.
