Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce Hires Executive Director
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Renea Salyer has been hired as its new executive director. Salyer will maintain the chamber memberships, recruit additional members, coordinate fundraising events, communicate the purpose and function of the chamber of commerce and other related responsibilities.
Salyer brings with her extensive experience in nonprofit administration, management, sales, fundraising, marketing, grant writing and public relations. Her strengths are relationship building, promotion and strategy building. She has served on various Kosciusko County boards and is a 2012/2013 Kosciusko Leadership Academy graduate. She has worked for the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce as the VP and member relations. During her tenure, she surpassed membership goals; diligently promoted businesses; worked with the ambassador committee; grew the small business connections group; implemented SCORE and the Young Entrepreneurs Academy; and engaged members in sponsorships. Most recently, Salyer worked as the project coordinator for Kosciusko Cares Youth Services, building an evidence-based program geared toward the prevention of substance use among youth, writing grants, managing special projects and focusing on coalition building.
“I am extremely excited and grateful to have this opportunity to use my skills and experience to work with the community to further the mission of the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber, to engage and advance businesses in order to enhance the community as an ideal place to live, work, shop, and play,” Salyer stated.
Salyer, a 38-year resident of Kosciusko County, enjoys spending time with her family, boating, biking, gardening and crafting. She begins her employment with the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber on Monday, Aug. 12.
